Therapy for Athletes and Performers

Train Your Mind Like You Train Your Body

You’ve put in the work—early practices, late nights, and everything in between. But when pressure hits, your mental game can be the difference between performing with confidence or getting stuck in your own head.

Whether you’re a high school athlete, college competitor, or serious performer, mental performance coaching can help you move through the invisible barriers holding you back—and tap into the mindset needed to thrive.

Common Challenges Athletes and Performers Bring to Therapy

  • Fear of failure or letting others down

  • Overthinking or getting “in your head” during games

  • Perfectionism and harsh self-talk

  • Struggles with confidence or self-trust

  • Difficulty bouncing back from mistakes

  • Burnout, pressure, or loss of motivation

  • Performance anxiety before or during competition

  • Returning after injury with fear or hesitation

What Therapy Can Support

Drawing from sport psychology, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed approaches, we work on building the tools to help you:

  • Regulate nerves and stay focused under pressure

  • Develop self-talk that fuels performance instead of tearing it down

  • Set goals that support growth and motivation

  • Recover from setbacks and learn from mistakes

  • Build confidence from the inside out—not just based on outcomes

This isn’t just about talking—it’s targeted, strengths-based work to help you feel more in control of your mindset, emotions, and performance.

My Background

As a former college basketball player who competed at the national level, I know firsthand how perfectionism, pressure, and high expectations can affect performance. I also know how transformative it can be to build the tools to move through those blocks.

With a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and over seven years of experience in the mental health field—including several years working specifically with athletes—I bring a blend of clinical expertise, lived experience, and a deep understanding of both the mental and emotional demands of sport.

What Therapy Might Look Like

You’ll get a personalized approach that may include:

  • Mindset mapping (identifying internal blocks)

  • Self-talk and imagery work

  • Focus and composure training

  • Goal setting and motivation alignment

  • Nervous system awareness and recovery strategies

  • Pre-performance routines

  • Reflection tools for growth (not just critique)
